Burna Boy Gets Grammy Consideration Ahead Of Wizkid And Davido

It’s another good year for Afrobeat music and artistes as the campaign to take the sound to the world gets even stronger.

News making the rounds is that Burna Boy is being considered for a Grammy Award ahead of musical stars Davido and Wizkid. The 61st Grammy Award is coming soon in a couple of months, precisely in January 2019 and the Nigerian artiste has been handpicked to be listed for a Grammy Award nomination.

The following artistes names have been mentioned Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold,Seun Kuti and Yemi Alade have ‘Outside’, ‘About 30’,‘Black Times’ and ‘Black Magic’ as their latest respective album.

But there have been questions to why Burna Boy should be chosen over Davido and Wizkid? While Yemi Alade, Adekunle Gold and Seun Kuti certainly deserved it since they are all in different genres, most musical pundits feel the Afrobeat could have been better represented by Wizkid or Davido rather than Burna Boy. They believe Wizkid also had a good year as he released an album that even got rave reviews from the international audience better than Burna Boy’s Outside album and also Davido who has been on fire both locally and internationally that he was been invited to perform at some of the World’s biggest festivals and also he’s been gaining worldwide prominence and also won the BET award.
